Pondy AIADMK MLA demands spl session for Cong govt to test trust
Puducherry, Aug 2 (UNI) Alleging that the ruling Congress government in the Union Territory had lost the trust and support of its coalition parties, AIADMK Puducherry unit secretary and MLA A Anbazhagan, MLA, today urged Chief Minister N Rangasamy to convene a special session of the territorial Assembly to prove his majority.
Addressing a press conference here he said as the relations between Mr Rangasamy and the ministers were not cordinal, the Lt Governor should invoke the powers wrested with him to convene the Assembly session.
He alleged that because of the ''tussle'' between the Chief Minsiter and the ministers, and infighting in the Congress, about Rs 75 lakh of government money was wasted for shuttling between Puducherry and New Delhi to make allegations and counter allegations to the party High Command.
He also alleged that the administration was totally paralysed here.
Mr Anbazhagan said as many as 12,500 applications for the provision of old age and widow pensions were pending, and several welfare schemes stopped in the union territory.
