Deora disburses education loans to minority students

Mumbai, Aug 2 (UNI) Union Petroleum Minister Murli Deora today disbursed fast-track educational loans on low interest to a group of students of the minority community to pursue higher education in professional courses.

Speaking on the occasion here, Mr Deora said the rate of drop-out among minority students was higher earlier, but it has been decreasing day by day. Hence they require such types of loans for securing higher education.

He urged the students to pursue higher studies.

Congress MP Milind Deora also urged the children of the community to pursue higher education instead of tradtional education.

NCP MLA Sachin Ahir said ''Maharshtra is the first state which has implemented the recommendations of Sachar Committee and in the state budget, we have allocated Rs 100 crore for the benefit of minorities in the state.'' The programme was organised by Maulana Azad Minorities Financial Development Corporation, which later conducted a guidance session for the students about the loans.
