New Delhi, Aug 2 (UNI) Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said Delhi will soon have a SAARC University, an international-level University which would meet need of students of SAARC countries.
Addressing a function after laying the foundation stone for a Community Centre and School at OCF Block, Mayur Vihar, Ms Dikshit said land for setting up of this University has been identified.
The Chief Minister said her government was fully conscious of developmental needs of the Trans Yamuna area and was committed to fulfilling them in earnest. In this context, she informed that the past few years had witnessed coming up of super specialty and other hospitals, community centres and cultural Centres in the area and with the growth catalyzed by the proposed construction of the Commonwealth Games Village in the area, East Delhi was expected to be on a par with any other developed area of the Capital.
Ms Dikshit also laid the foundation stone for a school, which will be constructed by the MCD.
East Delhi MP Sandeep Dikshit, area MLA Amrish Gautam, Chairman Trans Yamuna Area Development Board Narendra Nath and huge gatherings were also present on this occasion.
Area MP Sandeep Dikshit in his address congratulated and thanked the Delhi government and the Trans Yamuna Development Board for supporting the cause of development in the Trans Yamuna area.
