CM directs officials to ensure supply of fertilizers
Hyderabad, Aug 2 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today directed the officials to strengthen and streamline fertilizer supply to all the districts so as to ensure that the fertilizers reached the small and marginal farmers even in the most remote areas of the State.
For the effective monitoring and coordination, Dr Reddy also ordered to appoint senior IAS officers who have worked in the districts, as supervising officers to sensitive districts like Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam, Adilabad, Medak, Nalgonda and Mahabubnagar.
Reviewing the supply of fertilizers with the officials concerned at the Secretariat, he said 2.95 lakh tonnes of fertilizers would be supplied to all the districts. One lakh tonnes of complex fertilizers would be supplied additionally during this month. In july, 1.90 lakh tonnes of complexes were supplied. Besides, four lakh Tonnes of Urea would be made available during this month.
Dr Reddy had written to Railway minister Lalu Prasad to allot more rakes for the movement of maximum quantity of fertilizers. About 300 rakes would be required to move phosphatic and nitrogenic fertilizers to the districts.
