Top LAEF militant nabbed in Meghalaya

Shillong, Aug 1 (UNI) Meghalaya Police have arrested the new 'Commander-in-Chief' of Liberation of A'chik Elite Force (LAEF) Danny Marak alias Expert while extorting money from traders in Williamnagar, police said today.

A 7.65 mm pistol with ten rounds of live ammunition was also recovered from his possession.

According to the Superintendent of Police of East Garo Hills District, S Nongtynger, Marak was arrested yesterday while extorting money from seven traders in Williamnagar.

Marak's arrest is expected to be a major blow to the LAEF which had plans to expand the outfit's area of operation throughout the Garo Hills.
