Railway safty to enquire in Goutami express fire

Warangal, Aug 1 (UNI) Even as railways were trying to identify the victims of the ghastly fire in the Secunderabad- Kakinada Goutami Express near K Samudram early today, the Commissioner of Railway Safty was today asked to enquire into the fire which had so far claimed 32 lives, including women, physically challenged and children.

According to an official announcement made by the SCR here, the Commissioner, RP Agarwal would hold a statutory inquiry into the fire incident on August 3 and 4 at Railway Rest House at Warangal railway station.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Railways Naranbhai J Rathwa visited the accident site and the MGM government hosptial to see the injured and consoled the families of the victims.

The minister said ''the Railways stated that 20 persons have died in the accident.'' ''The Railways would verify the details of the passengers coach wise and arrive at the identification of the deceased passengers. All help and treatment would be extended to the injured passengers who were undergoing treatment at the hospital in Warangal,'' he added.

The Forensic Laboratory was investigating the exact toll.
