Punjab Cong begins awareness campaign on nuke deal
Fatehgarh Sahib, Aug 1 (UNI) The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) today launched its 14-day- long mass contact and awareness programme to educate the public about the benefits of Indo-US Nuclear agreement.
The programme was launched here by PPCC chief spokesman Bir Devinder Singh, as the state party president Rajinder Kaur Bhattal could not make it.
In their addresses, former PPCC president Shamhser Singh Dullo, former minister Harnam Das Johar and Amloh MLA Sadhu Singh Dharamsot spoke about the benefits of the nuke agreement. They criticised the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal for its 'negative' role by opposing the UPA government during the trust vote in Parliament.
Former minister Dr Harbans Lal, senior Congress leaders Harmohinder Singh, Kuljit Singh Nagra, Lakhbir Singh Rai, Harchand Singh Barsat and Harinder Singh Bhambri also expressed their views.
