Baalu approves road repair works in Maharashtra
New Delhi, Aug 1 (UNI) Union Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Minister T R Baalu has approved Rs 32 crore for road improvement works in various stretches of National Highways in Maharashtra.
Approval has been granted for the following stretches on National Highways including Rs 454.67 lakh for road improvement of Riding Quality (IRQ) work from Km 160/00 km. 170/0 of Pune-Nashik road of NH-50. The road terminates at Nashik, an important pilgrimage point and provides a link to Shirdi, another important pilgrimage centre. Due to heavy traffic in this stretch and also recent heavy rains, potholes had developed.
Similarly, an amount of Rs 511.77 lakh has been approved for work from km 578/00 to 591/00 of NH-222 of Kalyan-Ahmednagar-Beed-Majalgaon-Parbhani-Nanded-Bhokar road.
A sum of Rs 991.40 lakh has been given for strengthening of km 199/ to km 209/00 on Nagpur-Edlabad Section of NH-6. An amount of Rs 740 lakh has been approved for Improvement of Riding Quality from km 326/00 to km 340/00of Nagpur-Edlabad road section on the highway a busy link joining Eastern and Western part of the country and catering the traffic coming from NH-3.
Also Rs 498.89 lakh has been approved for improvement from km 159/2-162/0 of Nagpur-Obedullaganj road of NH-69, an important link joining Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra and going up to Bhopal, the capital city, an official release here said.
