DYFI to launch stir against Nuke deal in the state
Kozhikode, Jul 31: Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) will launch a statewide agitation against the proposed nuclear deal between India and the United States on August 15.
Talking to newspersons here DYFI State Secretary T V Rajesh said the decision on the agitation was taken to expose the Congress-led UPA government on its ''nefarious'' move to go ahead with the deal ''aimed at making the country subservient to the imperialist forces.'' The DYFI would also proposed to organise 1000 ''janasabhas'' throughout the State to create awareness among the people about the proposed deal, paving the way for huge foreign direct investment, which would be detrimental to the interestx of the country, he said.
On Centre's decision to curtail rice quota for people under APL, he said this was mainly because the ministers hailing from theState had failed to take the case with Central leaders appropriately.
He said the DYFI would also launch stringent agitation, jointly with other like-minded organisations, against the ''anti-people'' move.
Detailed agitational programme would be chalked out after consultations with other youth organisations, including Youth Congress and Muslim Youth League.
