Corporation to construct foot-bridge for Rs three crore

Tiruchirapalli, July 31 (UNI) Tiruchirapalli Corporation would construct a new foot-bridge at an estimated cost of Rs three crore to replace the one that was used to carry drinking water across Cauvery from the Collector well of the city's outskirt, Kambarasampettai main pumping station here.

In a Corporation Council meeting here yesterday, Mayor Sarubala R Tondaiman said necessary estimates for the new foot-bridge would be completed soon.

Ms Sarubala said the new bridge would be constructed to prevent the disruption of water supply, as a pillar of the 30-year-old bridge sank by about two-ft. The pumping station, however, meets a major portion of the city's drinking water requirement, she added.
