YSR writes to Sharad Pawar on crop insurance
Hyderabad, Jul 31: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on Thursday, July 31, urged Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar to extend the cut-off date for coverage of non-loanee farmers under crop insurance on par with loanee farmers up to September this year (Khariff season).
In a letter to the Union Minister, copy of which was released to the media, he said, ''the Kharif 2008 is delayed in our state due to late arrival of monsoon. The cut-off date for crop insurance of non-loanee farmers is July 31. As a matter of fact, the non-loanee farmers are to be protected on a par with loanee farmers.''
