New Delhi, Jul 31 (UNI) A Pilot Project of health check-up camp at CGHS Dispensary at R K Puram here will be organised from August 1 to 3 as a precursor to compulsory annual health check-up for the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) beneficiaries.

Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss mooted the idea of compulsory checkup of the CGHS beneficiaries for maintaining health profiles and bringing down the danger of serious ailments by preventive care.

The proposal is under active consideration of the Ministry.

A Yoga Camp might also be held at R K Puram from August 4 to August 9. All the CGHS beneficiaries above the age of 35 years can avail benefit of the annual health checkup being organised for them at the selected CGHS dispensaries of Delhi.

Apparently healthy people often have silent medical problems which often progress silently till symptoms of disease are manifested, which might be serious. The affected individual may feel completely normal and healthy and no family member or person in the community are able to recognise his problem.

Once the condition is sufficiently advanced, symptoms of disease appear. Some of these diseases are Diabetes mellitus, Hypertension and Hyperlipidemia.

It is always desirable to undergo a detailed health checkup regularly which can inform about one's health and identify diseases early. Minor ailments are also identified so that their management helps in promotion of healthy lifestyle.

Since prevention of disease is most important, annual health checkups have been planned by CGHS Delhi to identify and manage such medical conditions as early as possible.

The benefits would be averting pain and suffering from disease through proper treatment, reduction of costs on treatment (to be incurred due to late or non diagnosis of disease).

Health problems which can be diagnosed during such health checkups are Anaemia, Diabetes mellitus, Hyperlipidemias, Hypertension/Heart problems, Refractive problems of eyes and cancers.
