Race course to be shifted out of city before December 2009
Bangalore, Jul 30 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S yeddyurappa today announced in the Assembly that the race course, located in the heart of the city, will be shifted to the outskirts before December 31, 2009.
Replying to a debate on the budget estimates for 2008-09 he said the Turf Club Authorities had signed an agreement with the government in this regard on July 27. This agreement would end on December 31, 2009 and the shifting should take place before that date.
He said the present location of the race course was causing a lot of inconvenience to traffic movement following huge turnout at the races.
He also announced increase of Turnover Tax from two per cent to four per cent at Mysore Race Course.
