Eight bogies of a goods train derailed

Mangalore, Jul 30 (UNI) Eight bogies of a goods train derailed at Golthamajalu in Hubli Division of South Western Railway (SWR) in the wee hours of today affecting the train service between Mangalore and Bangalore.

Railway sources said the enginee and bogies carrying stone jelly jumped off the track allegedly due to fault in the welding of rails.

Following the incident the Mangalore bound Bangalore-Mangalore train was stopped at Puttur and passengers were sent to their destinations through buses.

Mangalore-Bangalore train services were cancelled for the day following the incident.
