Doctors banned from meeting MRs during public hours

Chandigarh, Jul 30 (UNI) Taking serious note of the fact that medical representatives keep doctors engaged causing inconvenience to patients, Punjab Medical Education and Research Minister Tikshan Sud has prohibitted doctors from meeting MRs during public hours.

The Minister asked officials concerned to ensure that no medical representatives be allowed to enter hospitals before 1400 hrs.

Now the doctors can meet the representatives of pharmaceutical and surgical firms only after attending to all patients waiting for their turn, he said.

"It is the primary duty of every doctor to pay full attention to the patients and meeting MRs should not get priority over patient care," he said.
