Doctor led gang of auto lifters busted

Fatehgarh Sahib, July 30 (UNI) The police here claimed to have busted a gang of inter-state auto lifters with the arrest of its leader Dr Dinesh Kumar.

Dr Kumar, BAMS, associated with a hospital at Sirhind is also into finance business.

Four other suspects include Sukhwant Singh, a resident of village Behbalpur near Bhadson, Harjit Singh of Meerpur, painter Om Parkash of Bara and Jasvir Singh of Doraha.

Fatehgarh Sahib SSP Dr Kaustabh Sharma told mediapersons that the gang members used to purchase old and damaged cars at low and then lifted new cars of same model. They then used to change engine, chasis number and RC numbers of old cars with those of new cars to sell them further at very good price.

They also used to finance the vehicles that they later stole.

He said they prepared forged documents with the help with officials of District Transport Office officials.

Jasvir Singh, a resident of Doraha was engaged in preparing forged documents to sell it further.

The SSP said a police team led by Gurdeep Singh, CIA incharge had recovered six stolen cars and case against these persons have been registered in Amloh police station.
