Attempt of theft in Vijaya Bank Branch

Amritsar, Jul 29 (UNI) An attempt was made last night to steal cash from a Branch of Vijaya Bank located at MM Malviya Road here police said today.

Three to four unidentified thieves broke the first lock of the bank's main door.

However, they could not break open the strong room and cash and other valuables were found safe and secure, sources said.

A case has been registered in the Police Station Civil Line Amritsar, under section 457, 380, 511 of the IPC.

Forensic experts and dog squads were called in and fingerprints have been taken from the crime scene.

The bank had not complied with the prescribed norms of security despite repeated directions, police sources said. The Banks have been asked to install CCTV cameras and appoint guards for round-the-clock security.
