Pvt bus crew go on flash strike in Pondy
Puducherry,Jul 28 (UNI) Private buses here went off the road today as drivers and conductors struck work to protest the alleged failure of police to arrest a gang which attacked the driver of a private bus.
According to police, a three-member gang stopped the bus plying between Puducherry and Sanyasikuppam at Reddiyarpalayam Thursday last and assaulted Kapali.
The driver, who was admitted to the government general hospital, was discharged only yesterday.
The bus crew alleged that though a complaint was lodged with the Reddiyarpalayam police immediately after the assault,no action was taken to arrest the culprits forcing them to go on a strike.
People, especially office goers and school children, were severly hit because of the flash strike by the bus crew.
