BJP to agitate in support of farmers in August
Hyderabad, July 28 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Andhra Pradesh will undertake a state-wide agitation from August 16 in support of farmers uncovered by the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government's loan waiver scheme.
Addressing a press conference here, BJP State President Bandaru Dattatreya alleged that a large number of farmers were left out by the central scheme.
Criticising the Congress Government for acquiring large tracts of land for Special Economic Zones (SEZ), he alleged that corruption was rampant in the allotment of land for industrial units.
The Government had turned itself into a realtor, he charged, demanding that the Government publish the list of industrial units which started production and the number of jobs generated in the new SEZs.
Alleging that the Rajasekhara Reddy Government had acquired more than the required land for SEZ in Kakinada, he demanded that the Government give back the land to farmers.
