Anti-sabotage teams up security in TN Dist
Tiruchirapalli, Jul 26 (UNI) The Tiruchirapalli District Police has deployed anti-sabotage teams at Rural Police Sub-divisions of Tiruverambur, Lalgudi, Musiri, Manapparai and Jeeyapuram as a precautionary measure to enhance security across the district in the wake of the serial blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad.
Police sources said headed by an Inspector of Police, each team was fully equipped to handle emergencies.
Pickets have been posted in 80 places with police intensifying vehicle checks in all the 12 checkposts falling under the Tiruchirapalli (Rural) Limits.
Patrolling was intensified in every sub division with important places of worship, vital installations, bus stands, markets and crowded areas brought under the security cover.
As many as 13 moving patrols have been pressed into service with security being monitored in each sub division by a Deputy Superintendent of Police.
Open line patrolling has been undertaken in many stretches, the sources added.
The Government Railway Police (GRP), which has a vast jurisdiction from Villupuram to Kanniyakumari, has also embarked on open line patrolling, according to Railway Police sources.
As many as 20 Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) personnel have been pressed into service to help the GRP men during peak hours to frisk and check the passengers' belongings at Tiruchirapalli Railway Junction and other important Railway stations in and around Tiruchirapalli, the sources added.
