TN CM reviews security, asks police to remain vigilant
Chennai, Jul 27 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today directed the police force to remain vigilant and take all preventive measures in the state in view of the serial blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad that claimed more than 40 lives.
Mr Karunanidhi chaired a review meeting at the State Secretariat to discuss the steps taken by the police and preventive measures to be adopted to prevent any untoward incident in the state.
During the meeting that lasted nearly an hour, the Chief Minister discussed the steps taken at the high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary L K Tripathy on the security measures being put in place.
After reviewing the security arrangements, the Chief Minister directed the police to remain vigilant and take all preventive measures.
He also directed them to provide additional security in places where people congregate in large numbers and in temples and others places of worship.
State Ministers K Anbazhagan, Arcot N Veerasamy and M K Stalin, Chief Secretary L K Tripathy, State DGP K P Jain, ADGP (Law and Order) K Vijayakumar, Chennai City Police Commissioner R Sekar, Chennai Suburban Police Commissionerate Commissioner R Jangid, senior police officials, including ADGP Intelligence, North Zone Head Radhakrishnan, Special Branch CID Chief and other officials participated in the meeting.
