Darjeeling/Siliguri, Jul 27 (UNI) Elaborate security arrangements have been made and additional forces deployed throughout the hill areas to avoid any untoward incident even as the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) observed ''Shaheed Diwas'' today in remembrance of several people allegedly killed in police firing in 1980.

SP (Darjeeling) Rahul Srivastava said the situation was tense but under control with no fresh incidents of violence reported so far.

GJM president Bimal Gurung said the organisation would give an amount of Rs 1,50,000 to the family members of GJM women's wing leader Promila Chhetri, who was allegedly shot dead by Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) leader Deepak Gurung's house.

The GJM president also reiterated his warning to the GNLF activists to leave the hill areas within 15 days or ''face the consequences.'' Meanwhile, GNLF supremo Subash Ghisingh, along with his family members, was today shifted to a state government guest house at the Teen Batti area in Siliguri from the Sinclairs Hotel where he had put up after arriving from Darjeeling yesterday, police said.
