E mail threat of blasts in Delhi, Police ascertaining origin

New Delhi, Jul 27 (UNI) Close on the heels of the serial blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad an E-mail threat to carry out blast in New Delhi was today received by a private news channel, police said today.

The E Mail, threatening to carry out blasts in Delhi was handed over to the Delhi Police for further investigation and verification, a Delhi Police spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said the Crime Branch and Special Cell of the Delhi police had begun a probe into the origin of the E-mail.

It is notable that the Delhi Police have already heightened security in the National Capital with 30 additional companies from the reserve forces being stationed in various parts of the city for carrying out extra surveillance.

Further, security has been heightened at sensitive locations like markets ISBTs, railway stations, airport and metro stations.
