UNICEF holds discussion with Vidhan Sabha Committee on malnutrition

Bhopal, Jul 26 (UNI) UNICEF and other UN organisations have made a presentation on the problem of malnutrition in Madhya Pradesh before the Vidhan Sabha Committee for Women and Child Development and the Committee for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes Welfare.

In a special message, which was read out on the occasion yesterday, Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani has stressed on the need for building greater awareness and educational and health institutions should come forward and play their role in this regard, an official release here said.

''Only a healthy child makes a healthy village, a healthy state and a healthy nation,'' he stated.

Legislators, who attended the meeting, unanimously agreed that greater efforts should be made to build public awareness on the issue of malnutrition with the involvement of people's representatives, government agencies and other support groups, the release added.
