Leopard kills one, injures 12 in Bihar

Madhepura, Jul 26 (UNI) One person was mauled to death and 12 were injured when they were attacked by a leopard at Magrahatta village in the district today.

District Superintendent of Police O N Bhaskar informed that the leopard had entered the village from a nearby forest in search of food a few days ago and killed several cattle.

But when the terror-stricken villagers tried to drive the animal away from the village it attacked them.

Altogether 13 villagers were injured in the attack and later one of them succumbed to his injuries. The deceased was identified as one Mohun Kumar(38). The injured had been admitted to a local hospital.

Later district forest officials and the police rushed to the spot and launched a massive search operation to trace the killer leopard in a bid to trap it and send it back to the jungle.
