Justice K Narayana Kurup resigns as wageboard chairman
Kochi, Jul 26 (UNI) Justice (Retd.) K Narayana Kurup has resigned as the Chairman of the Wageboards for Journalists and Non-Journalists, which was set up by the Central Government on May 21 last year.
Justice Kurup confirmed to UNI here today that he had sent in his resignation letter to the cabinet secretary on July one, giving a 30-day notice period.
''I had indicated to the government at the time of my appointment itself last year that I may not be able to serve for the entire three-year period. With the Board declaring a 30 per cent interim relief recently, I consider that the major part of my work is done.
Now, only the classification of establishments remains to be done,'' Justice Kurup said.
He said the government could now appoint a new chairman, who could continue with the rest of the work. His resignation would not affect the board's recommendation for interim relief, Justice Kurup added.
Stating that he had not received any response yet from the government to his resignation letter, Justice Kurup said ''I am sure that it will be accepted.'' UNI ARC APA1915
