Hyderabad, July 26 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh United Muslim Action Committee (APUMAC) today urged Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to instruct the police to stop harassing the teachers and managers of Madrassas and 'Imam' and 'Moazams' of Mosques by branding them as ''anti-social elements.'' According to a release here, Committee Convener Moulana Mohd Hameeduddin Aquil Hussami, who led a delegation to the Chief Minister, alleged that ''some police officers are promoting the Hindutva agenda to denigrate the Muslims as terrorists and anti nationals. They are promoting hatred against the Muslims in the minds of others.'' The Committee had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, urging him to act immediately to put an end to these ''atrocities'' and ''anti-muslim activities.'' Mr Hussami said Dr Reddy had assured the delegation that he would call a meeting of senior police officers in two days and give them necessary instructions in this regard.
