Gogoi rules out Assam's territory for Nagalim

Guwahati, Jul 24 (UNI) Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today ruled out any suggestion of parting with the state's territory.

Mr Gogoi reaction came following Manipur MP mani charanmei's claim that the UPA government was considering a demand for a separate ''Nagalim state''.

The Manipur MP claimed that there was indication in the Lok Sabha that the UPA government was looking at the demand of creation of Nagalim.

The Outer Manipur constituency's MP had voted in favour of the UPA government during the confidence motion, stating that the Congress has assured him of re-examining the issue of non-compromise of territorial integrity of Manipur.

''Assam will never accept the demand of Nagalim and we will never allow any part of the state to be separated,'' Mr Gogoi told reporters here.

The NSCN had been demanding creation of Nagalim by unification of Naga-inhabited areas, which would also include parts of Manipur and Assam.

Mr Gogoi said the Congress would never consent to compromise of territorial intergrity of any state.

''I will check up what the Manipur MP has been assured of, but it surely can not be conclusive. We can't speak for other states, but as far as Assam is concerned, we will never compromise an inch of land,'' he said.

Assam has land disputes with its bordering states, including Nagaland.
