Farmer ends life following fear of failure crop
Rajkot, Jul 24 (UNI) A 45-year-old farmer today allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at his farm, on the outskirts of the city, following fear of failure of crops due to shortfall of rains.
Meghjibhai Solanki, a debt-ridden farmer, was admitted to civil hospital here in an unconscious condition, where he died during the treatment.
The deceased's elder brother, Channabhai Solanki, in his statement to the police, said following failure of his crop due to inadequate rainfall, Meghjibhai was forced to take such an extreme step.
He is survived by two sons and two daughters.
