The in-principle approval will allow the flow of funds for implementing various programmes and interventions as suggested by the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation.

Briefing the media about the cabinet decisions, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi said the Government of Kerala will identify the activities to be undertaken under the scheme and will submit appropriate proposals.

He said the implementation of the programmes and interventions will lead to better rice production with reduced cost of cultivation, increase food production, crop protection during floods besides promotion of national water flow.

Dasmunsi said both the farming and the fishing communities will be benefitted by this scheme and it will also lead to elimination of pollutants in the eco-system.
