New Delhi, July 23 (UNI) Delhi today witnessed a return to acute sultry weather conditions with the mercury shooting up to 37.4 degrees Celsius.
After cool weather over the weekend, brought about by rain and thundershowers, a bight sunlight and high level of humidity led to perspiring conditions.
The maximum temperature rose from 35.5 degrees Celsius yesterday to 37.4 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.
The minimum temperature also rose from 26.4 Degree C yesterday to 28.6 Degree C, two degrees above normal.
Meanwhile, the monsoon showers continued to elude the city for another day. Barring one or two spells of heavy showers last week, the Capital city witnessed a lull in rainfall activity for most of this month, despite the early arrival of monsoon.
The lull could continue in the coming days with weathermen forecasting an absence of rainfall in the city in the coming days.
The Met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours.
