PM pays in kind to DMK by way of Ram Setu affidavit: BJP
New Delhi, Jul 23 (UNI) Taking note of the government's affidavit before the Supreme Court on Ram Setu, the BJP today said it was nothing but payment to DMK in kind in return for allowing it to stay in power in yesterday's trust vote.
BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy, reacting to the affidavit, said it had hurt the emotions and sentiments of millions of Hindus across the globe just to consolidate his position for a few more months. ''This is his kickback to the DMK, a price paid to cling on to power,'' he said.
This was the reason the BJP has maintained that yesterday's confidence vote was not just one deal but many such deals, he remarked. As far as the BJP was concerned it had full faith and respect in the objectivity of the Supreme Court and would prefer to wait for its judgement, Mr Rudy added.
BJP Parliamentary Party spokesperson Vijay Kumar Malhotra said the second affidavit was worse than the first one hurting the sentiments of millions of Hindus and it also showed the anti-Hindu attitude of the Congress-led UPA government.
He said the BJP had taken the insult seriously and the party would organise nationwide protests against the anti-Hindu mindset of the Congress and the DMK parties bent upon breaching Ram Setu, the heritage bridge of Ramayana days.
