Paswan announces Rs 250 crore steel plant for HP

Dharamshala, Jul 23 (UNI) Minister for Steel and Chemicals Ram Vilas Paswan today announced that Steel Authority of India (SAIL) will set up Rs 250 crore steel plant in Himachal Pradesh.

''The steel plant will be set up preferably in Kangra district or on the land made available for it by the state government,'' he told mediapersons here on his arrival at the Kangra airport on his one day tour to the state.

Mr Paswan is in the state to attend a one day farmer's fair and workshop being organised by National Fertiliser India Limted.

Mr Paswan said that more than 10,000 people will get job in this plant alone and added that a food processing and potato chips industry will also be set in this district at the cost of Rs 50 crore.

''Besides generating employment opportunities for the unemployed youth, the food processing and potato chips industry will also procure potato crop of the farmers of the state from their door step,'' he added.

Referring to the yesterday's vote of confidence in the Parliament where the BJP members waved wads of currency notes, he said since the BJP was sure of loosing the vote it had resorted to these tactics.

He demanded action against the three BJP MPs who had managed to sneak in bundles of currency notes inside the Parliament house which was sanitised with security arrangements.

The Minister termed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati's attempt to become the country's prime minister as ''Mungeri Lal ke Hasin Sapne'' and said the Centre was not trying to implicate her, but her past was haunting her.
