LIC announces 1,000 scholarships for eco backward students
Mumbai, July 23 (UNI) LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation has announced 1,000 scholarships for students belonging to economically weaker families in the country.
The scholarship Scheme is for students pursuing higher studies in medicine, engineering, graduation in any discipline, diploma course in any field and vocational course at graduation level, through government recognized colleges/institutes. Candidates who have passed their class 12 exam in academic year 2007-08, with at least 60 per cent marks and above and whose family income is Rs 60,000 and below per annum, will be eligible to apply.
Mr T S Vijayan Chairman of LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation, while launching the LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme today, said one thing that can empower our country now is 'education'.
Mr Vijayan hoped that this initiative of LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation will make a difference in the lives of few deserving have-nots in the country.
