US welcomes UPA's confidence motion win
New Delhi, Jul 22 (UNI) The United States hailed the winning of the confidence vote by the Manmohan Singh government today and said Washington would work closely with New Delhi for a rapid completion of the ratification of the Indo-US nuclear deal through the IAEA, NSG and US Congress.
US Ambassador to India David Mulford said in a statement tonight that the United States welcomed the support in the Indian Parliament for the Indo-US civilian nuclear cooperation initiative.
''We will work closely with the Government of India in the days ahead for a rapid completion of the ratification process through the IAEA, NSG and US Congress,'' the envoy said.
The 35-member Board of Governors of the IAEA will consider on August 1 its safeguards agreement with India on the Indo-US nuclear accord.
After geting clearance from the IAEA it will go to the 45-nation NSG and finally to the US Congress before it can be ratified.
