Rupee closes lower at 42.73/74 against USD
Mumbai, July 22 (UNI) The Rupee today closed lower at 42.73/74 against the US dollar with a loss of five paise from its last close of 42.68 on worries about the outcome of the trust vote and modest purchase of dollars by exporters.
Rupee ended at 42.73/74 per dollar, off an intraday high of 42.5650 and 0.1 percent weaker than Monday's close of 42.68/69. It fluctuated in a wide range between 42.59 and 42.85 during the session.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today fixed the reference rate for US Dollar at Rs 42.71 per unit, steady against its yesterday's rate of Rs 42.71 per dollar.
The six-month and annualised forward premium was quoted at 5.13 (5.19) per cent and 4.32 (4.38) per cent, respectively.
Rupee ended the day firm at 67.78/80 (67.48/50 ) per unit against the Euro. It closed at 85.36/38 (84.95/97) per unit against the Pound Sterling, while Rupee ended at 39.96/98 (39.78/80) per hundred units against the Japanese Yen.
