Murder case against 12 cops

Indore, July 22 (UNI) A local court today ordered registering of a murder case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code against the local Khajrana Police Station's 12 personnel involved in a fake encounter.

A case was registered against a sub-inspector of the station three years back in this connection.

Judicial Magistrate Padmesh Shah issued the order.

The deceased Shyamlal's wife alleged that -- on September 13, 2004 -- Head Constable Rajendra Raghuvanshi from the station indulged in an obscene act with her while executing a warrant. When Shyamlal protested, the head constable assaulted him but was killed in the fight.

Shyamlal surrendered at the police station but Sub-Inspector Mukesh, Assistant SI R G Dixit, constables Suraj, Brajpal, Shailendra Yadav, Shailendra Mishra, Vinod, Shivkumar, Yogesh Tripathi, Bihari, Rammilan and Manoj Sharma fatally beat him and described his death as an encounter.
