Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 22 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly and senior Congress leader Oommen Chandy today congratulated Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for their efforts in achieving ''glittering'' success in the trust vote.
In a statement here, he said the Congress was recognised for its views that national integration was more important than holding power.
''The victory is of democracy and the interests of the country,'' he said.
Praising Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, he said, ''The speaker deserved a special praise for upholding the statutes of our Constitution.'' However, the CPI(M) even tried to drag him, who set a good example among the controversies, he alleged.
Stating that the CPI(M) had no right to talk about secularism, he said it itself became a part of the unholy alliance of the BJP-CPM-BSP.
