BSF Hawaldar killed in cross LoC firing in Punj
Jammu, Jul 22 (UNI) A hawaldar of Border Security Force (BSF) deployed at a forward post along the Line of Control (LoC) in Punj was killed last evening in heavy firing from akistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) side, official sources today said.
''Hawaldar Bhanwar Singh of BSF suffered fatal wounds in the heavy firing, which included rockets and PIKA ammunition, from Pakistan side at one Bilal border outpost in Punj,'' an official source told UNI.
The BSF authorities declined to comment on the incident saying ''the incident took place under the Army's area of responsibility.'' Meanwhile, reports said another border outpost, elsewhere in Punj sector, manned by the troops of 4 Bihar Regiment, was also fired upon from across the border. However, no injuries on the part of Army were repoted in the incident, sources said.
Army has not given any statement on the reported incidents, which had taken place under the operational area of 93 Infantry Brigade.
