Patna, Jul 21 (UNI) In a novel way to protest the ''failure'' of the State Government in clearing waterlogging here, NCP workers today sowed paddy crops in the premises of Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi's residence.

NCP workers under the aegis of Kisan cell of the party entered the residence of Mr Modi and sowed the paddy crops in its premises to vent their anger against the ''failure'' of the State Government in clearing waterlogging in various localities here, said Mr Jai Prakash Yadav, party general secretary.

'' About 21 people have lost their lives as manholes left open by municipal authorities are proving to be death traps for those wading through inundated areas, '' he said adding the State Government had failed to prepare a policy to find a permanent solution to the waterlogging menace in Patna despite ''tall claims'' of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in this regard.

'' Flood in Bihar damages standing crops worth crores of rupees, but the NDA Government is not concerned over the farmers' plight and only engaged in making big announcements without doing anything substantial at grassroot level, '' Mr Yadav lamented and demanded that the State Government take steps to pay compensation to the affected farmers.
