IHRO blames government for ignoring Budda Nullah
Fatehgarh Sahib, Jul 21 (UNI) Expressing concern over the discharge of untreated industrial waste into Budda Nullah, the International Human Rights Organisation (IHRO), an NGO, today critisised the Punjab Governmnet for not taking action against 24-industrial units accused of poisoning the nullah with effluents.
IHRO chairperson D S Gill and general secretary M S Grewal, in a statement today said that "despite specific orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court the government is not taking any action against the polluters." "The dyeing and electroplating units, on and around the Tajpur road, are the main polluters, which make the nullah water poisonous and cancerous not only in Ludhiana but also in Malwa belt up to Rajasthan wherever the polluted water of Budda nullah mixed with Sutlej river goes, they said.
