Council adjourned to enable members to watch 'Trust Vote'

Bangalore, Jul 21 (UNI) The Karnataka Legislative Council was today adjourned without transacting any business to enable the members to watch the proceedings of special session of the Lok Sabha, where Prime Minister Manmohan Singh moved 'Trust Vote.' As soon as the House assembled, Opposition leader Veeranna Mathikatti (Cong) appealed to the officiating Chairman N Thippanna to adjourn the House so as to enable the members to watch the Lok Sabha proceedings.

Stating that almost all the members of the House were eager to watch the debate, which was being telecast live by the Doordarshan and other news channels, and to know more about the Indo-US nuclear deal, Mr Mathikatti appealed to the chair to adjourn the House for two days.

M C Nanaiah (JD-S), M Nadagouda (JD-U) and Narayana Swamy (Ind) also sought the adjournment.

The Chairman adjourned the House for two days after hearing similar plea from Home Minister and House leader V S Acharya on the issue.
