Ban on movement of Equines, mules, donkeys in central Kashmir

Srinagar, Jul 20 (UNI) Concerned over the reports about a light contagious disease in horses, Jammu and Kashmir government has imposed a blanket ban on the movement of equines(horses), mules and donkeys in the central Kashmir district of Badgam.

An official spokesman said today that the District Magistrate, Budgam, Mohammad Rafi has imposed blanket ban on movement of equines (horses), mules and donkeys for a period of 30 days with immediate effect, within territorial jurisdiction of Budgam district.

The ban order, he said, had been issued in view of the letter from Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Budgam revealing that ''Equine influenza'' a light contagious disease in horses have affected some parts of Kashmir Valley which was earlier prevalent in Reasi and Udhampur districts of Jammu region.

This is for the first time such a ban had been imposed in the valley.
