UPA betrayed common man, JD(U) to vote against trust vote

New Delhi, Jul 19 (UNI) Charging the UPA govenrment of being ''insensitive and betraying the common man'', the Janata Dal (United) today said it would vote against the trust vote in Parliament to punish the ruling coalition.

The National Executives of the JD(U) met here today and passed a resolution asserting that the UPA government was surrendering the sovereignty of the country to the US in the name of nuke deal and energy security.

''We will not accept the US hegemony and surrender our sovereignty in the name of nuclear energy. It is an elaborate deception to become a strategic partner of the US. We will not accept this,'' party General Secretary Shambhu Shrivastava said here today.

Discounting the media reports about JD(U) MP from Lakshdweep Muthu Koya supporting the UPA government, he said all the eight JD(U) MPs would vote against the confidence motion. Regarding speculations that Mr Koya would abstain on health grounds, Mr Shrivastava said he would arrive in the capital by tomorrow.

However, according to internal sources, the efforts to bring Mr Koya to the capital was going on and party president Sharad Yadav is mediating the efforts.

Asked whether the JD(U) would support BSP supremo Mayawati as the Prime Ministerial candidate as the UNPA and Left parties are considering, Mr Shrivastava said, ''as far as NDA is concerned L K Advani is the Prime Ministerial candidate.'' More UNI AJ LPB UCS1832
