Sikhs protest against Dera chief in Jammu

Jammu Jul 19 (UNI) Several Sikh organisations today staged a protest against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Baba Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh here.

Demanding his immediate arrest, the protestors raised slogans against the Dera chief and tried to disrupt traffic on the Jammu-Kathua national highway.

The agitating Sikh organisations gathered at Digiana ashram, in city outskirts and staged a massive protest against the Dera chief.

''The protest was staged to register resentment against the killing of one of the Sikhs in clashes between the Dera followers and Sikhs in Dabwali,'' an agitator told UNI.

They also burnt the Dera chief in effigy and set afire tyres to block the national highway demanding a CBI inquiry against him.

The agitators urged both the Haryana and Punjab governments to register a case under section 302 against the Dera chief.
