Humid weather conditions prevail in plains
Chandigarh, Jul 19 (UNI) Hot and humid weather conditions prevailed in the plains in north-west India even as rains lashed many areas in Himachal Pradesh and isolated places in Punjab and Haryana during the past 24 hours.
Except for few places which received rain overnight in Punjab and Haryana, people groaned under hot weather conditions in the plains as the mercury stayed above normal.
Moderate rain lashed Nangal Dam area in Punjab, recording 18.3 mm while Madopur, near Pathankot, measured 11.0 mm and Shahpur Kandi 4.4 mm downpour till this morning.
Hot weather conditions prevailed in Haryana as monsoon rain eluded most areas of the state where Naraingarh received moderate rainfall registering 11 mm downpour overnight.
Many areas in Himachal Pradesh also received light to moderate rain till 0830 hours. However, heavy rain lashed Shimla and its adjoining areas. The capital town recorded 24.2 mm rain till 0830 hours, followed by Dharamsala registering 17.6 mm.
Mandi, Sundernagar, Nahan, Una, Solan, Pandoh, Rampur, Naudan, Guler, Nagrota Surian and Gamroor areas were lashed by moderate rainfall.
while Sundernagar in Mandi district measured 3.4 mm and Una town 1.0 mm rain overnight.
Chandigarh and its adjoining areas reeled under hot and humid weather conditions in the absence of rain even as monsoon clouds hovered in the sky.
The Met Office predicted moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers at most places in Himachal Pradesh and light to moderate rain or thundershowers at few places in Haryana and Punjab during the next 24 hours. It warned of heavy rain at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh during the next 48 hours.
