Defence Ministry increases fund allocation for welfare projects
Itanagar, Jul 19 (UNI) The Defence Ministry has decided to enhance the allocation of funds and strengthen the various welfare projects undertaken by the Army in Arunachal Pradesh, Raj Bhawan sources here said today.
Immediately after taking over the charge as Arunachal Governor, General J J Singh (retd) had approached the Defence Ministry asking for enhancing the allocation for welfare projects undertaken by the Army.
Accordingly, the Army had approached the Union Home Ministry to increase the allocation for welfare projects in the state for Assam Rifles, the sources said.
The Governor had also expressed his desire to convert few villages in the remote areas into model villages by the joint efforts of the state government, Army and paramilitary forces, the sources added.
