IT returns to be filed without TDS certificates: CBDT
New Delhi, Jul 18 (UNI) The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued notification regarding income tax returns to be filed without tax deducted at source (TDS) certificates.
With a view to enabling tax-payers to file returns electronically, it returns (except ITR-7) have been made annexure-less.
In a notification dated March 28, 2008, CBDT said no annexures, TDS or tax collected at source (TCS) certificates are required to be attached to the returns of income.
The credit for TDS or TCS shall be allowed on the basis of details furnished in the relevant schedules of the return forms, subject to relevant instructions on verification of TDS claims.
No disallowance of claim for TDS or TCS shall be made by the assessing officer only on the ground that the TDS or TCS certificates have not been filed along with the return of income.
It also said assessees should retain all annexures to produce in support of their claims.
