Deemed universities: No medical seats under govt quota
Puducherry, Jul 18 (UNI) The meeting of the representatives of private medical colleges in Puducherry, convened by Chief Minister N Rangasamy today to finalise the number of seats under government quota in medical colleges, came to an abrupt end with the medical colleges with deemed university status refusing to allot any seat for the government.
The meeting, chaired by Mr Rangasamy and attended by Health Minister E Valsaraj and Education Minister M O H F Shajahan, commenced at 1200 hours and failed to arrive at any decision as the deemed universities refused to allot any seat for the government, while other colleges agreed to provide seats as done in the last year.
However, Mr Valsaraj told newspersons that another round of talks would be held in a couple of days and the government would take all efforts to get its quota in all the private medical colleges here.
