Court directs Press Club to file reply by July 23

Mumbai, Jul 18 (UNI) The City Civil Court today directed the Press Club, Mumbai to submit its reply by July 23 on a suit filed by a city-based journalist, challenging his suspension from the Club.

The petitioner, Renni Abraham, has challenged the legal validity of his suspension from the Club in a case that allegedly involved a violent incident between him and Club secretary Gurbir Singh in the year 2006.

The matter came before the court today for hearing.

The defendant (Club) has sought two weeks time to file its reply, saying it had received copy of suit only yesterday. The court has directed it to file the reply on July 23.

Mr Abraham, challenging the suspension letter dated April 19, 2008, alleged that it was illegal and issued to him without due process of law and prayed that the suspension should be quashed.
